Why the lighthouse?
Swedish inventor Gustaf Dalén transformed scientific knowledge into practical systems for lighthouse and buoy lighting. His automatic regulators helped lights operate when needed while conserving fuel. He was awarded the 1912 Nobel Prize in Physics for his inventions.
The lesson: A lighthouse does not create value by simply standing on the coast. It creates value when its light works, helps people navigate and supports a safer passage. Knowledge has the same responsibility: it must be applied.
