HUMAN AND WEALTH — Episode 08: Relationships and Fair Value Sharing

WEALTH GROWS WHEN HUMAN DECISIONS CREATE LASTING VALUE.

How can people create and share wealth together?

Cooperation creates lasting value when the participants understand what they contribute, what they receive and how results are verified. Ambiguous expectations may produce activity while weakening the relationship.

THE SIGNAL / PROBLEM

The signal is a joint initiative in which each party describes success differently. Resolve that difference before scaling the arrangement. Goodwill cannot replace an agreed baseline and responsibilities.

THE SYSTEM

Define the customer’s or partner’s job to be done. Record the baseline, contributions, costs and evidence of improvement. Agree how value will be shared, including what happens when results fall short. Check that gains have not simply shifted an unrecorded cost to someone else.

ONE DECISION

Agree one shared result and a transparent review method.

TOP 3 ACTIONS

  1. Write the baseline and each party’s contribution.
  2. Agree the evidence and the value-sharing principle.
  3. Run a small pilot and review actual results together.

30-DAY RESULT

One signed or clearly recorded agreement and one jointly reviewed result.

ILLUSTRATIVE CASE

A supplier and customer test a replenishment change. Reduced emergency deliveries may save costs, but stockholding could rise. Both effects must be included before deciding whether there is shared value.

REVIEW CHECK

Count value once. Avoid presenting the same saving as a separate gain for every participant.

ACTION CHECKLIST

Record the baseline → choose one decision → assign the three actions → record evidence → review after 30 days → remove the main chokepoint before adding features.
