Illustrative economics—not verified customer results
| Measure | Baseline | Pilot scenario | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Customer-owned usable gas inventory | €60,000 | €45,000 | €15,000 potential one-off cash release |
| Emergency-delivery charges annually | €12,000 | €6,000 | €6,000 potential annual saving |
| Pilot implementation fee | — | €8,000 | Initial cash outflow |
| Annual licence and support after pilot | — | €3,000 | Recurring cash outflow |
Assuming the inventory reduction becomes an actual cash release and the delivery saving is achieved:
First 12-month net cash benefit = €15,000 + €6,000 − €8,000 − €3,000 = €10,000.
Subsequent annual net benefit = €6,000 − €3,000 = €3,000, before other changes. The €15,000 inventory release is counted once.
Rental cylinders require a separate calculation: returning supplier-owned cylinders may reduce rental payments; it does not release customer-owned cylinder capital.
Verification: reconcile stock records, purchase invoices, delivery charges and actual payments. Maintain agreed gas quality and supply reliability. Assess ROCE separately using operating profit and average capital employed.
Commercial engine: PAID PILOT → VERIFIED CASE → ANNUAL LICENCE → ADDITIONAL SITES.
ONE first action: select ONE customer site and obtain its stock, consumption and delivery-cost records to establish the baseline.
