Life Leader : My Legacy Building Journey
Born in 1950 and residing in Vienna, my journey has been profoundly shaped by the historical and social contexts of my upbringing. Growing up in a time when the shadows of the Nazi regime still loomed over Austria, I faced significant pressures, particularly from the education system. My teachers, many of whom were old Nazis, imparted a strict, conformist ideology that I found stifling. In contrast, my family embraced democratic values, fostering an environment free from the burdens of the past.
While I experienced the weight of organized religion through the Church—serving as a ministrant and engaging in its practices—I sensed a divergence between those teachings and my own budding beliefs. It became clear to me at a young age that I needed to carve out my own path, one that honored my family’s democratic ideals and allowed for personal exploration.
Central to my development was my focus on practical learning and social interaction. Building relationships with colleagues and friends enriched my understanding of the world and reinforced my commitment to democratic principles. Marrying my wonderful partner, Irena, and raising our sons, Marc and Philip, provided a foundation of love and support that guided my choices.
Professionally, I approached my career with curiosity and a willingness to embrace new challenges. After the fall of the Iron Curtain, I had the opportunity to climb the career ladder by engaging in entrepreneurial ventures, such as establishing green grass manufacturing companies. These experiences not only honed my leadership skills but also positioned me to contribute positively to society.
My passion for strategy led me to start my own consultancy, where I could apply my principles of democratic leadership—collaboration, transparency, and adaptability. As I progressed in my career, I became increasingly aware of the importance of mentorship and legacy. This realization fueled my desire to pass on my knowledge and experience to the next generation.
Ultimately, my legacy is encapsulated in the initiative I founded, RapidknowHow. This platform embodies my commitment to sharing wisdom and fostering a culture of learning that empowers others to take charge of their futures.
Today, as I reflect on my journey, I am proud of my identity as a Democrat. It is rooted in my experiences of overcoming suppression, embracing curiosity, and nurturing connections. I hope my story serves as an inspiration to others seeking to define their paths in a world that often pressures us to conform. In building my legacy, I am committed to ensuring that the values of democracy, curiosity, and knowledge-sharing endure for generations to come.
