RapidKnowHow® HUMAN AND CHARACTER | Episode 04 of 10
Earn and negotiate fairly while keeping clear limits on deception, exploitation and broken commitments.
The central question
What are we willing to sacrifice for financial gain?
This PowerPost offers a practical reflection on behaviour and choices. The story below is illustrative, not a report of a real person or event.
1. SITUATION — See the human dilemma
A seller can earn a larger commission by recommending a package the customer does not need. The customer’s lack of expertise makes the sale easy, but renewal will depend on whether the promise delivers value.
2. CHOICE — Make the decision visible
Maximise this transaction by exploiting the information gap, or recommend a suitable offer and explain its limits.
3. ACTION — Build character step by step
- Define your limits before the negotiation. Specify what you will not misrepresent or conceal.
- Understand the customer’s actual need. Compare the proposed offer with a simpler or lower-cost option.
- Explain price, scope, limitations and conflicts of interest clearly enough for an informed choice.
- Verify delivery against the promise. Correct a shortfall rather than hiding behind a completed sale.
4. CONSEQUENCE — Check the result
The customer can make an informed purchase, and the seller earns revenue tied to a credible promise. Fair conduct may reduce the immediate sale; future loyalty is possible, not guaranteed.
5. LESSON — Preserve what you learn
Money is a useful resource. Character is expressed in the methods we accept to obtain it.
Measurable value delivered
Compare promised and delivered outcomes, complaints, refunds and renewal reasons. Use real evidence rather than assuming that revenue proves customer value.
ONE decision today
Review one current offer. Remove an exaggerated claim and state one meaningful limitation before the customer buys.
ACTION CHECKLIST
- Name the situation and the people affected.
- Separate facts, assumptions and unknowns.
- Choose a principle and one concrete action.
- Set a completion date and a review point.
- Check the consequence, repair harm and adjust.
PASS: One responsible action completed and its consequence reviewed. FAIL: A stated intention with no action or review. At the first review, remove the one obstacle before adding more steps.
Character is shaped by temperament, experience, habits and circumstances. One action provides a signal; repeated choices provide stronger evidence. Assess behaviour carefully before labelling a person.
